It has been a very difficult few weeks at Hillside. February was the wettest on record as storms Ciara, followed by Dennis and then Jorge battered the country. Our small maintenance team have been working extremely hard keeping our ageing barns, shelters, kennels and fencing safe for our rescued animals. One shelter at our Shire Horse Sanctuary near the sea at West Runton completely collapsed. Meanwhile our goat barn, which has provided shelter for our rescued goats for many years, was declared unsafe after the torrent of rain and high winds seemed to never end.
The continuing storms also meant we used far more straw than usual to keep the animals well-bedded in. These extremes of weather, which are becoming more frequent, have stretched our funds to the limit... If you would like to donate towards our Storm Damage Appeal, you may do so below. Thank you.
